Diamond Zig Zag Border by Diana Swensen
Materials Needed
  2 Coordinating colors of cardstock
  Fiskars ShapeCutter™
  Fiskars cutting mat
  Fiskars Diamond ShapeTemplate™
  Fiskars 3-in-1 leaf punch
  Fiskars 12” paper trimmer
  Pencil
  Ruler
 
Instructions
  1. Position your 8 ½” x 11” background cardstock with 8 ½” across and 11” down. Measure in from the left edge of the cardstock 5/8” and draw a vertical line the length of the page. Measuring from the top of the page mark on the line at 3”, 5½” and 8-1/16”.
  2. Measure in 2-3/8” from the left edge of the cardstock and draw another vertical line the length of the cardstock. Measuring from the top of the page mark on the 2-3/8” line at 1-3/4”, 4-1/4”, 6-3/4”, and 9-1/4”.
  3. Turn your page so that the 8 ½” side is down and the 11” side is across. The 1-3/4” tick mark is in the lower left side.
  4. Using the diamond template, position the 3.75 x 2.0 diamond so that the gridline (a) is at the top of the diamond matching the 1-3/4” mark and the horizontal line on the paper.
  5. Using the ShapeCutter™, cut the top half of the diamond starting 1/8” below the elbow on the gridline marked (b) creating an inverted V shape (see photo).
  6. Realign your template and repeat steps 5 & 6 for each tick mark on the 2-3/8” inch line. You should have 4 inverted V shapes in all.
  7. Rotate the paper so that the measurements are now at the top of the page.
  8. Using the diamond template, repeat step 4, 5, and 6 on the 5/8” line. The point of the diamond will be centered between the V shaped lines you have already cut.
  9. Using the leaf punch, punch a leaf into each point.
  10. Cut a strip of coordinating cardstock, 8 ½” x 1-3/4”. Slide the strip under the V shape.
  11. Using the leaf punch, punch out leaves to use as inlay in the points.
